   This song clearly is talking about WW1, but more about the British and the French. When they say 'Over the top, Over the top,' that clearly means over the trenches in trench warfare. Trench warfare was the worst form of warfare in WW1. Millions of troops died in trench warfare like in the line 'limbs are flying, men are crying, such a hurtful sight.' But the only way out of this war was death.

   The story is about WW1 trench warfare. More specifically one army medic. This was a brutal event where the americans stayed in a trench in the ground and the enemies were above firing. Basically, they had the upper hand and in the line; 'Voices calling for me' the medic is saying many men survived shots but there were too many to heal in time and many died. Eventually in the part where they say scream aim fire, it means the medic got very mad and avenged his fellow brothers by screaming out of rage, popping out of the ground, aiming his gun, and killing the enemy army. Unfortunately, in the line the only way out is to die, my guess is that he had to get shot eventually.

   Now, i'm far too lazy to do a full synopsis of this song, but it very much refers to WW1 and trench warfare with lines such as 'over the top, Over the top'
   In the song Bullet depict a soldier, with all of his friends, referred to as 'brothers' dying around him. Who's been ordered to go over the top and feels completely demoralised feeling that 'the only way out is to die'
