+Install i1Studio Application For ColorMunki Display on Windows ColorMunki Display software is not 64 bit compatible. However, the latest version of i1Studio software now supports the ColorMunki Display device and provides 64 bit compatibility. The software gives full compatibility with the latest Macintosh (Catalina OS10.15) and Windows 10 operating systems and has full backwards compatibility with both the ColorMunki Display and Colormunki Photo Hardware. The New i1 Studio and all the latest updates for the X-Rite photo products software can be obtained from our downloads page below. User must have Administrator rights to install, uninstall the application and the ColorMunki device drivers, and to be able to save Monitor Profiles. Powered USB Port; Monitor resolution of 1024x768 pixels or higher; Dual display support requires either 2 video cards or a dual head video card that supports dual video LUT’s being loaded.

Q1: The software informed me that there was a new version available. I updated it and now cannot open the application.

Q2: When I ran the application it told me there was an update available. The update started but crashed half way through install.

On some systems, the online update does not install correctly. Certain files not downloading correctly usually cause this. To fix this issue we recommend that you perform a clean re-install of the software using the instructions below:

Apple Macintosh

1) Open: Macintosh HD > Applications: Delete the application (ColorMunki Smile, ColorMunki Display, 1Profiler or ColorMunki Passport).
2) Download the XRD Un-Installer application from here and run it.

3) Restart the computer
4) Download and install the latest version of the software for your device from downloads the link below.
When installing the X-Rite application, be aware of the following:

• Administrative rights are required to install and uninstall the software.
• Do not connect the measurement device until the software installation is complete.

5) Before running the software, plug in the device, allow a few minutes for the drivers to update then launch the application.

Windows:

1.) Download the latest X-Rite Software for your device from the link below save it to your disk (do not install yet):

2.) Disconnect any measurement instruments or dongles

3.) Set User Account Control to lowest level (Control Panel > User Accounts > Change User Account Control Settings)

4.) Restart computer, log in with Administrator rights

5.) Temporarily close all third-party Virus Protection Tools

6.) Quit X-Rite Tray Application, if running (i.e. right-click to Colormunki/i1Profiler icon bottom right in Windows Task Bar, select ‘Quit’).

7.) Go to Computer -> Manage -> Services and Applications -> Services, locate the ’X-Rite Device Services‘ and stop it.

8.) Go to systems Control Panel > Programs & Features and uninstall X-Rite Device Service Manager, then uninstall Colormunki/i1Profiler Software

9.) Go to C: Programs (x86)X-Rite delete the folder ‘Devices’ (if still present).

10.) Go to C:WindowsSysWOW64 and/or C: WindowsSystem32 and delete XriteDevice.dll (if present).

11.) Go to Computer -> Manage -> Task Scheduler > Task Scheduler Library and delete the Tasks ‘X-Rite device Service Software Updater’ (if present)

12.) Restart computer, log in with Admin Rights,

13.) Install X-Rite application; right-click to the Setup.exe icon and select ‘Run as Administrator’

14.) Restart computer

15.) Before running the software, plug in the device, allow a few minutes for the drivers to update then launch the application.

Apple Macintosh – software reinstall procedure:

For all the devices an installation of the latest software on top of your current version is sufficient to reinstall the software. The latest version of the software for all devices can be found at:

***For ColorMunki Photo and ColorMunki Display please download the latest i1 Studio application. The new software is fully compatible with the ColorMunki Photo and Display devices and contains extra functions including updated monitor calibration.***

Windows PC – software reinstall procedure:

  • Un-plug the device
  • Open the Control Panel
  • Click on Programs and Features
  • Highlight the program name (any of the X-Rite software listed above)
  • Click Uninstall
  • Remove all other items that refer to X-Rite in the ‘Publisher’ column (usually ‘X-Rite Device Manager’ and Uninstall deviceDll1.1). If ColorChecker Passport is installed it is not necessary to uninstall it.
  • Restart the PC and download the latest version. This can be found at:

Select your device from the icons and download the latest PC version of the software.

*Please note* – For ColorMunki Photo and ColorMunki Display please download the latest i1 Studio application. The new software is fully compatible with the ColorMunki Photo and Display devices and contains extra functions including updated monitor calibration.

Install the software and restart the PC.

Once restarted, do not plug the device in again until the computer is fully booted, preferably in a rear USB socket as they have higher power capability.

For other products in the X-Rite range – a un-installer is not required and reinstalling software on top of the previously installed software will generally solve most issues.
